Athens

Got to Athens on schedule. Spent most of 24 hours in transit. Left Brisbane at 8.30pm Monday 5th October and landed in Athens about 9.30pm Tuesday 6th on NSW time, which was, of course, mid afternoon in Athens. The airport at Dubai (the transfer section anyway) is huge and all you can do is wander along the shops. Did not seem cheap at all – in fact the prices, as close as we could work out, were really just NSW Retail prices – not even cheap duty-free. So guess what – I did not buy anything!

Emirates were good to fly with but what would you expect from Collingwood’s chief sponsor? Marginally more room than Qantas – but only just. Fortunately I had a spare seat next to me, so could curl sideways and encroach a bit which meant I actually got some sleep – with a little help from a tablet. Pretty worn out now and must go to bed to beat jet-lag.

Finishing this next morning and feel great. What’s this jet-lag?? Off to tour around Athens, in particular the Areopagus, Parthenon etc. Looking forward to it.

A wonderful view from the 10th floor of this hotel, looking over the Acropolis but have not got time to upload the photo yet. Will try later.

  1. Glad to hear you're okay and the jet-lag didn't get you and that you were also able to get some sleep on the plane.
Look forward to seeing some photos of Athens and the view from the hotel room.
