The Athenian ruins were sensational! To stand in the spot where St Paul made a 2-3 minute speech (in Acts) but he was allowed 6 minutes according to the ‘rules’ of the Areopagus, begs the question about how he spent the remaining time – although he was invited back.

The ruins of the Parthenon were incredible, with the modifications to allow for the ‘eye’ looking at it, where the whole building is modified with slight variations in all directions - is astounding to say the least. Each individual block is modified to suit that spot and no other!

Kate, you must get here to see it. Your interest in this period in civilization will be so enriched. It is hard to comprehend, especially for ordinary Aussies, to see elements which are 3000-4000 years old when we thought warehouses down Battery Point in Hobart built in 1810-1850 were old.

They are still digging in the Agora and unearthing ruins to add to the history. The Agora (or open-space or market place) is fascinating as it sits below the better known ruins of the Parthenon etc.

A few of us walked back from the Acropolis Museum but got a bit lost. Thankfully a few beers in a Taverna helped restore our sense of direction so all is well.

Have taken much ‘footage’ on video (somehow ‘kilometrage’ or ‘centimetrage’ doesn’t have the ring of ‘footage’) so hope I can edit it to something meaningful.

The next challenge is to see

if I can upload a couple of ‘still’ camera shots. Wish me luck...
